One of my favorite kinds of verbs are helping verbs (also known as auxiliary verbs).
As the name suggests, helping verbs help—they help other verbs, known as principal verbs, to do their job.
Here's how Marie explains it in the Basic Cozy Grammar Course.
Helping WORDS for Living Well in the World
Just as there are verbs that help other verbs do their job, there are also words and books that help us as human beings to carry out the task of living well in the world.
Perhaps you've seen some of the verses I've shared recently from my forthcoming translation of the classical Tamil masterpiece on ethics, power, and love, THE KURAL: Tiruvalluvar's Tirukkural.
The book is going to be released from the venerable Beacon Press next week Tuesday, and to celebrate its appearance, the Elliott Bay Book Company in Seattle, WA, and Tasveer, an arts non-profit with a mission to inspire change through films, arts, and storytelling, are hosting a FREE online book launch, to which you are most cordially invited:
Event: Thomas Hitoshi Pruiksma, The Kural, in conversation with Archana Venkatesan
Location: Online
Date: Tuesday, January 11, 2022
Time: 6:00-7:00pm Pacific

Ask Cozy Grammar & Free Music for Learning
As you may know, if you've signed up for any of our core courses, you and your family are heartily invited to join me for our live Ask Cozy Grammar session each month, included as a bonus part of our Complete Curriculum.
This year we want to experiment with finding a day and time that works for the largest number of our students and families. Could you help us by completing a very quick survey?
As thanks for your help, we'll add a free album of your choice from Marie's albums of Music for Learning to your account.

Thank you!
I hope this finds you and your family healthy and happy.
